Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K Hamilton

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1)Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I've heard so many good things about this book but for me it didn't live up to the hype. It was a good book but I think I'm starting to get out of the Vampire phase. This book just didn't do it for me. I'm not sure if it was the lack of romance or chemistry between the characters or what. I just would say it was okay! If you are looking for that great romance and violence vampire book this is not it! I would keep looking for something else. Don't get me wrong this wasn't a terrible book it was just not what I was wanting to read.

Something Borrowed Book Review

Something Borrowed (Darcy & Rachel, #1)Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow! I actually read a book before I watched the movie. In some ways I can relate to the friendship in this book between Darcy and Rachel. If you have ever had one of those friends that seem to be one sided and life revolves around them you will totally understand this book. I think this was a really great book about love, and friendship. It makes you think what would you do if you were in that situation? Its a tough decision to follow your heart and accept the consequences or stick to the same mundane lifestyle and live in the shadow of a friend. I hope that the movie sticks to the line of the book! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it!

Book Review-The Dead Lie Down by Sophie Hannah

I listened to the audio version of this and it was great. Just when you thing you know what is going on the plot changes. Ruth Busey has a secret that she is hiding and so does her boyfriend Aiden Seed. He admits to a crime that Ruth knows he didn't commit and she'll do anything that she can to prove it to him. The more she pushes the further he pulls away from her. She goes to Charlie who is police officer but Charlie doesn't know which way to go with the information. At the same time Aiden is talking to Simon who is Charlie's fiance who is also a police office. Charlie and Simon have a strange relationship that no one believes they are really getting married. As Charlie and Simon start to get scrutinized by not only the people they think are friends and family so does the departments they work for. As the story continues you start to think that you have figured out the truth behind the story but then in comes another character that starts to tell their version of the story. Just when you think the story is over there is still more and by then end it's not at all what it seemed. If I were reading this book and not listening to it I definitely would not have been able to put it down!

Football day in America

It's Sunday also known for 16+ weeks of the year as Football day in America. I must say I LOVE Football! Right now i'm watching the Redskins vs. Vikings. So far it's a pretty good game. Unfortunately, my hubby's team isn't televised today. He likes the Steelers and since Direct Tv monopolized most of the football games with their sunday Ticket program a lot of the good games aren't on anymore. Which I feel is really unfair! Not to mention the fact that they charge $59.99 a month for 5 months just to get the Sunday ticket. Why is it that every NASCAR race is televisized but Football nope you gotta pay extra.

Now on to other subjects, as we are all well aware of the "Christmas Season" has started and so have the idiots driving on the road. Yesterday I ventured out to pick a few things and nearly got backed into twice. Why is it that people have to be so inconsiderate? Christmas is about giving and kindness but no people have to rude and pushy. Luckily, i only had to be out for a short 2 hours. I did manage to finsh shopping for a few people. As I dont have much family anymore I don't have many people that I have to buy for.

On the Christmas subject also, let me just admit how much of an doo-doo I am. I started to do a little bit of decorating and thought I plugged in something to a surge pack well let's just say that it helps if you have both prongs plugged in. The bad part is I went all around the house looking for a light bulb because I thought the bulb was blown. I even took the plug to another outlet and it worked. It wasn't until my husband checked the surge pack that he noticed the cord didn't have both prongs plugged it. (Hand hits forehead!)

Well, I hope that gave everyone your laugh for the day! Happy sunday :)

Turkey Day!

So it's that wonderful time of year where you wake up in the morning to watch the Macy's day parade, bast a turkey, watch football and take naps. This year I got to do all that and not even get out of my pajama's. Yep nobody came to visit or eat dinner except the family that lives in my house. It has been such a pleasant day. Although, my turkey never turns out as golden as they show on tv. Neither my husband nor myself have managed to get dressed today.

I have told myself every year that there is nothing that I need so bad on Black friday that I would go out with all those crazy people. This is still true this year although I have decided I will try to make a trip. Let me just say I don't understand if company's can "lower" their prices for this one day why cant they be lower all year round. It's a simple gimmack to get people all crazy and fighting.

So now on to the book reading...I actually read a good portion of "why my third husband will be a dog?" It's a very cute book and I have laughed at several times. I definitely recommend this book. When I'm finished I'll post a complete review!

In conclusion, Happy Thanksgiving I hope you had a great holiday:)

Thanksgiving and books

Well I know not many people follow my blog because I'm not on here much but I am going to try to get better with that.

A friend of mine has posted a book giveaway on her blog if anyone would like to check it out. the address is http://lvbw.blogspot.com/2010/11/2010-december-giveaway.html

So it's that time of year where everyone sits around and talks about what they are thankful for. I am the most thankful for my husband and my kids. Some may know I have 3 children their ages are 12 11 and 4. Yes I know there is a huge gap! They are the most amazing things in my life!

With the thanks being out now lets get on to the books that I'm reading! Right now I am reading Why my third husband will be a dog by Lisa Scottoline. I'm not very far into the book but it looks like it's going to be a hoot! After I read that I'm planning on reading my first Jodi Picoult book.

Lastly, for this post I hope that you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving and try not to go to crazy on Black Friday!!

Book Review-Fallen by Lauren Kate

Fallen (Fallen, #1) Fallen by Lauren Kate

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
It took me a long time to get through this book, not because it was bad it was just easy to put down. I think the storyline was good but it could have been condensed considerably. I think the relationship between Luce and Daniel was very confusing for awhile. There was a little bit to much description of every little thing. I did like all the characters in the story as they all really had a role.

I still find it hard to believe that Luce's parents would enroll her into a school that they never visited. I was a little bit upset that Luce didn't have much contact with her outside friend Callie except for the one phone call and letter. Certain parts of this book reminded me of other storys. The ending does leave you wondering and I will say that I will read the next one to see what happens.

For a breakout novel I believe it was pretty good and hopefully the next one gets better!!
